Italian supermarket chain Bennet has rolled out a new store format at the Le Piazze shopping center in Lecco.
The store, Bennet Smart, seeks to combine food quality and healthy eating with factors that are increasingly important to Millennials, such as speed, practicality, comfort and pricing.
The 1,200 square metre store features a carefully-selected products range, aimed at providing customers with a simpler, more practical, and faster shopping experience.
The assortment consists of 9,000 SKUs, including local products (such as meat and cheeses, PDO and PGI), bakery products, ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat dishes, seasonal products, as well as more than 70 prime meat cuts and about 50 fish products.
Also noteworthy are the comprehensive free-from and vegan/vegetarian ranges, many of which form part of the Bennet private label brand.
Products are divided into three categories: Top Selection (quality products and high service), Grandi Marche (most known and appreciated brands), and Garanzia Bennet (private label products that guarantee the highest quality at the best price).
Tech Innovations
Some of the technological innovations of the new 'smart' store include digital signage, interactive totems and self-service that accept Apple Pay technology.
The Bennet Smart store also has a high efficiency and energy rating.
The refrigeration system uses only natural cooling fluids, meaning energy consumption is reduced by 30%.
With the opening of the first Bennet Smart outlet, the grocery retailer now operates a total of 63 hypermarkets in Northern Italy (Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Liguria regions) and also operates 45 shopping malls.
The company plans to open a new shopping center in Chivasso (Turin province) this spring, which will also feature a Bennet hypermarket.
