Italian e-commerce service Supermercato24 has announced a partnership with Lidl, which will enable the discounter to offer same-day home delivery service for groceries purchased online.
Supermercato24 will also provide an option to deliver online purchases within an hour.
'Innovative Grocery Marketplace'
Commenting on the partnership, the chief executive of Supermercato24, Federico Sargenti, said, "It’s the first time that Lidl leverages the innovative grocery 'marketplace' model that is now starting to catch on, and we’re sure this will be a winning factor for the both of us.
"I think the e-grocery industry is shifting more and more towards collaborations between traditional grocery retailers and tech facilitators like Supermercato24, and we’re glad to lead the way.”
Wide Range Of Options
Customers can pick groceries from their nearest Lidl store with the help of an online catalogue that offers more than 4,000 items, including private label products.
President at Lidl Italy, Massimiliano Silvestri, said, "Through this platform, we’re offering the same quality, convenience, and freshness that we always offer in our stores.
"This is a chance for us to further strengthen our positioning, as well as win the loyalty of clients who have been choosing and loving us for years."
In February of last year, fellow Italian retailer Pam Panorama teamed up with Supermercato24 to offer grocery home delivery.
