Portuguese retailer Jerónimo Martins is expanding its presence in central Colombia, with the opening of the first stores in Bogota on 10 September.
The network of neighbourhood stores Ara will open two units in the capital (Chía and Soacha), taking the total to 173 throughout the South American country.
According to JM, the expansion to Bogota and nine municipalities of Colombia’s central Cundinamarca region (with 10 million consumers) follows the “good reception that the Ara chain had in the Coffee Axis and the Caribbean Coast”.
In Bogota, as is already the case in the two regions in which Ara operates, the stores will have a diverse assortment, adapted to the needs of local consumers, the retailer said.
