Dutch supermarket chain Jumbo has announced a partnership with independent retailer Edward Koornneef.
Koornneef, CEO of Koornneef Retail Group, is to set open a Jumbo Foodmarkt in Naaldwijk (in The Netherlands). It will be the firstJumbo Foodmarkt operated by an independent retailer.
In addition to theJumbo Foodmarkt, the Koornneef Group will operate three Jumbo supermarkets, in Oud Beijerland, Naaldwijk and Wateringen.
Ton van Veen, CFO of Jumbo Supermarkets, commented, "We are delighted that Edward Koornneef and his partner, Marieke Vijverberg, are joining Jumbo. Koornneef is an experienced and seasoned supermarket-operator, now fully focused on the Jumbo formula (...). Edward and Marieke are bursting with ideas for our supermarkets and have ambitious plans for the Food Market in Naaldwijk."
TheJumbo Foodmarkt 'formula' sees a large range of fresh foods, retailed - at discount prices - at the Market and served at the Market's cafe. The fresh food specialists and chefs follow mainly Italian, Asian and Dutch cuisine.
Jumbo Foodmarkt currently has branches in Amsterdam, Breda and Veghel.
