Dutch retailer Jumbo says that it is expecting 'significantly more customers' in its supermarkets this week ahead of Easter, with sales estimated to increase by around 20%.
The supermarket operator also says that it anticipates twice as many customers to order groceries online than during a regular week, through the retailer's website and shopping app.
Easter Trends
Unlike the Christmas trading period, shoppers often purchase different groceries each year for Easter, according to Jumbo, so the retailer has filled its stores and magazine with ideas for meals and food trends.
However, some products remain popular every year. Jumbo says that more than 100 million Easter eggs were sold at its stores last year, as well as 250,000 stollen breads.
Looking beyond food, flowers are a popular seasonal purchase, with Jumbo customers buying more than twice as many tulips as normal.
