Dutch retailers Jumbo and Coop have announced plans as to how to divide the EMTÉ store estate between them, following their joint purchase of said estate from Sligro.
Subject to approval from the Dutch competition authorities (ACM), some 79 EMTÉ stores are to fall under the Jumbo banner and 51 under the Coop banner.
The transition and conversion process is expected to be completed over the course of 2019.
EMTÉ store managers and personnel were informed of the plans this week, Coop said in a statement.
The announcement follows the agreement with wholesaler Sligro Food Group on 5 March to transfer the EMTÉ stores to Jumbo and Sligro.
The ACM is expected to make its decision on the proposed deal later this year.
As a result of this, and due to a request for advice from Sligro's Works Council, the plans for the future store allocation are still subject to change, Coop noted.
