Dutch retailer Jumbo has announced plans to extend its meal delivery service to Utrecht and Amsterdam in February of this year.
The project will be executed in association with the meal order site Thuisbezorgd.nl.
Customers will have the option to order freshly prepared meals and other food items to their homes or offices.
They will also have the choice of picking up their orders from the Jumbo City store in Stationsplein in Eindhoven.
In addition to complete meals and fresh food products, customers can also order drinks, such as freshly squeezed fruit juices, shakes, and smoothies, the retailer added.
'A Logical Step'
Jumbo CFO, Ton van Veen, commented, "At Jumbo, we want to be where the customer is, so delivering freshly prepared meals at home or work is a logical step for us. Moreover, we see that the demand for tasty and healthy meals is growing strongly.
"With the freshly prepared products from the in-house Fresh Kitchen of our Jumbo Foodmarkt and Jumbo City locations, we can answer that question excellently.”
In 2019, the retailer launched a pilot project in Jumbo Foodmarkt in Groningen to deliver freshly prepared meals ordered via Thuisbezorgd.nl.
