Dutch retailers Jumbo and HEMA have signed an agreement 'in principle' that will pave the way for greater commercial cooperation in both the Netherlands and Belgium.
In a statement, Jumbo said that the purpose of the agreement is to 'further improve the market position' of both companies.
Driving Growth
This will involve examining methods to strengthen each other's store network, as well as the sale of selected HEMA products in Jumbo supermarkets.
HEMA is also said to be examining a co-sponsorship of professional cycling team Team Jumbo-Visma.
According to Jumbo, the nature of the cooperation agreement is 'currently being worked out further' by both parties, and an announcement is due by the end of the year.
The cooperation agreement is subject to competition authority approval, it added.
