German hypermarket chain Kaufland, part of Schwarz Gruppe, has opened a €75 million logistics centre in the Croatian town of Jastrebarsko.
The construction of the logistics centre in the Jalševac commercial zone lasted little more than a year and in the first year of operation Kaufland will be exempted from municipal fees.
The centre, which extends for 163,000 square meters, consists of four halls with more than 64,500 square meters, and will employ around 300 people.
Kaufland Hrvatska employs a total of 4,000 staff in 34 stores, with a total sales area of over 103,000 square meters. Each of the stores offers over 20,000 products, including 1,000 items under the private label brand K-Classic. More than 70 per cent of food products sold are produced in Croatia.
Since arriving in Croatia 12 years ago, Kaufland has become the fourth largest retail chain in the country, investing several hundred million euros over the years.
