For the month of August, Finland's Kesko Group's sales totalled €1.06 billion, an increase of 8.4% from the year before.
There was one more delivery day in August than in the previous year, the retailer noted.
Kesko Grocery Sales
In the grocery trade, sales for the month of August amounted to €548.6 million, up 8.9% year on year.
Grocery sales to K-food stores increased by 5.9% year-on-year.
Sales fell in the K-Citymarket home and speciality goods trade, while Kespro's sales increased by 27.6%.
Building Trade
Elsewhere, in the building and technical trade category, sales amounted to €430.2 million in August, up 9.7% in comparable local currencies.
Sales in the category, excluding speciality stores, grew by 9.9% on a comparable basis.
On a comparable basis, sales increased by 11.3% in Finland, 4.9% in Sweden, and 5.2% in Norway.
Elsewhere, in specialised trade, sales in the leisure trade grew by 5.2% on a comparable basis.
Reported sales in the company's building and technical trade increased by 12.0%.
Car Shortage
In the car trade, sales amounted to €87.1 million in August, up 1.6%.
According to the K-Group, sales were affected by a lack of availability of cars.
In August, the number of new passenger cars registered in Finland was 10.0% lower than in the previous year and the number of vans registered was 4.1% higher than in the previous year.
Unit sales of used passenger cars in the Finnish car trade fell by 11.2% compared to the previous year, the company added.
