Konzum was the top grocery retailer in Croatia in terms of turnover for 2015, amounting to HRK 14.9 billion (€2.01 billion), or 28.9% of the total nationally.
According to figures published by Croatia’s Financial Agency (FINA)*, Plodine was second in terms of revenue with HRK 3.87 billion (€522 million), followed by Lidl Hrvatska with HRK 3.7 billion (€499 million).
In terms of net profit, Konzum was also first with HRK 234.6 million (€31.67 million), compared to a net profit of HRK 108.8 million in 2014 (€14.69 million).
Second place went to Lidl Hrvatska with HRK 185.4 million (€25.03 million) net profit, while Split-based retailer, Tommy, was third with HRK 105 million (€14.17 million).
Konzum employed the largest number of workers in the sector with a total of 12,602.
Overall, total turnover in Croatia’s retail sector in 2015 amounted to HRK 51.6 billion (€6.96 million), up 6% year-on-year, while profit reached HRK 431.2 million (€58.21 million), compared to HRK 148.7 million a year earlier.
