Large scale grocery sales recorded a slowdown of 1.66% in Italy from February 11 to 17, reports La Repubblica.
The decrease is in line with market trends, the paper said.
Sales in southern Italy increased by 1.60% in the seven days analysed, while sales in the north east decreased by 2.63%, in central Italy by 2.46% and in the north west by 1.77%.
As of the beginning of the year, the value of sales is still positive, with an overall growth of 1.80%.
The Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata, Campania, Calabria and Sicily regions recorded the strongest sales growth in the period (+4.44%), according to the data.
