Groupe Casino’s discount chain, Leader Price, has announced a five-year plan that will see it open 50 supermarkets in Morocco, with the inaugural store set to begin trading this week, in Casablanca.
The retailer says that it is committed to “the development of the Moroccan economy, and encouraged by the large potential of Morocco’s agri-food sector”. The stores will retail a selection of Leader Price private-label products and national brands.
The expansion into the North African country is to happen in conjunction with La Société OCS.
Nicolas Belleteste, its senior vice-president for distribution, commented, “Through the opening of this new supermarket, conceived in accordance with international guidelines, we will be able to welcome clients and offer them a large range of innovative and diverse Leader Price products at attractive prices.”
