Leclerc Best For Price Perception In France, Study Finds

An annual survey on supermarket pricing carried out by the legal firm Simon-Kucher & Partners, has found that Leclerc boasts the strongest price perceptions of any retailer in France.

Leclerc received a score of 100 in the study, followed by Intermarché. Further back, Carrefour scored 102.9, and Géant Casino scored 103.1.

Commenting on the study, Barclays European Food Retail Equity Research said, 'Although both Géant Casino and Carrefour improved their respective price perception last year relative to Leclerc, Intermarché still has the second best price perception after Leclerc.

'Interestingly, both Cora and Monoprix are seen by French customers as much cheaper than their effective price positioning thanks to their efficient communication strategy.'
