Russian retailer Lenta has announced the appointment of Tomas Korganas as a non-executive director of its board, effective immediately.
Korganas was nominated by Lenta's major shareholder, Severgroup, for the vacant position in the company's board.
A Seasoned Professional
Korganas is a seasoned professional who presently serves as the head of strategy at Severgroup, Lenta said in a statement.
He began his career at BCG and Goldman Sachs, after which he led several corporate mergers and acquisitions at GE, Rusal, and Vympelkom over the next 10 years.
In 2012, he joined Severstal as its head of corporate development.
'Deep Experience In Strategy'
Lenta’s chairman, Alexey Mordashov, welcomed Korganas to the board, saying he believed his "deep experience in strategy and M&A will be very beneficial for the company in the current stage of development".
Tomas is an engineering graduate from Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania.
He also holds an MSc in international strategy from Helsinki University of Technology and an MBA from MIT's Sloan School of Management.
