Russian retail chain Lenta has announced it has signed contracts with ADG Group-owned Edisonenergo LLC to lease retail space, at a number of new 'shopping & community' centres in Moscow, for an additional 36 Lenta supermarkets.
Lenta has agreed to lease around 47,000 square metres of retail space, with the floor space of its stores varying in size from 740 to 1,800 square metres.
The new multi-purpose centres are part of a redevelopment of former Moscow cinemas. Keeping their individual architectural style, the buildings are rebooted as versatile facilities for a range of locally needed commercial, social and educational services.
Jan Dunning, CEO of Lenta, commented, "Since the first store opened in Moscow in 2013, customer feedback to Lenta supermarket concept has been very positive and we are pleased with the performance of our 36 existing stores in the city. We are accelerating growth in this format and this important agreement with ADG supports our strategy by adding a further 36 stores, in attractive high traffic sites."
The first of the new stores are scheduled to start trading at the end of 2018.
