Lidl Portugal has named Alexander Frech as its new CEO, effective March 2019.
Frech is an industry veteran, and has been a part of the Schwarz Group for ten years.
Previously, he was responsible for the company's logistics division, and played an important role in consolidating a global vision for the business at an international level.
Lidl Portugal will continue with its strategy to invest and expand business in the country, where it has more than 250 stores, four warehouses, and a workforce of more than 6,500 people.
Changes In Lidl Italia
Elsewhere, the outgoing CEO of Lidl Portugal, Massimiliano Silvestri, is to take on the role of the managing director of Lidl Italia.
He has been with the Lidl Group since 2002, and will replace Ignazio Paternò, who will move to the board of directors of its parent company in Germany.
This year, Lidl aims to invest over €350 million in Italy to open more than 40 new supermarkets, and create around 2,000 new jobs.
