Discount retailer Lidl has increased its market position in Belgium, ending 2017 with a record share of 8.6%.
The latest figures from GfK show that the retailer's growth is steadily continuing, with it experiencing a 0.4% increase in market share in the last year.
Market penetration increased from 61.9% to 63.4%, meaning that two thirds of Belgian shoppers now visit Lidl at least once a year.
Continued Expansion
Lidl says that it is continuing its expansion plans in Belgium, and the group's 300th outlet is set to be opened soon.
Between now and 2020, the retailer plans to open a new store every two weeks, on average.
Last year, Lidl Belgium also began trialling a new grocery pick-up service for online orders, installing secure lockers in three of its stores, which could be expanded if the test is successful.
