Lidl Donates €15,000 Prize Money To BUND

Lidl Germany has donated a €15,000 prize to the 'Association for the Environment and Nature Conservation Germany', BUND. The company had acquired the sum last November, winning the ‘Energy Efficiency Award 2015’.  It had won the award for an energy-efficient store concept, titled, ‘ECO2LOGISCH’.

BUND is considered one of the largest environmental protection organisations in Germany. It is committed to the preservation of natural resources. It has announced it will use the donation to finance a further study on potential energy efficiency in heating systems, particularly boilers.

"With the support of Lidl, it is possible to build on the findings of the BUND Energy Efficiency Study, published last November - for example with additional trade-training workshops”, Antje von Broock - Teamleader ‘Climate & Energy’ - commented on the donation by Lidl.

Lidl is one of Germany’s leading companies in food retail. With 39 independent regional companies, operating around 3,200 branches, it employs more than 75,000 people.
