Lidl has earmarked a number of East Coast locations in the United States for its entry into the US grocery sector, and has given a list of criteria on its website that properties should fulfil if they are to be the host of an American Lidl supermarket, NorthJerseyNews.com reports.
A Lidl US spokesman commented earlier this week that, “We're still in the early stages to launch in the US.”
He added, however, that the multinational is "actively pursuing sites in the region and that we will have stores open in the United States no later than 2018."
On its website, Lidl has stated that it is looking for sites that measure a minimum of 3.5 acres to accommodate a 36,000 square feet store with at least 150 dedicated car parking spaces.
It is also looking for locations that are in established retail regions, near full access intersestions with high visibility and that are already zoned for grocery retail use.
