To celebrate its ten year partnership with the Fairtrade organisation, and following the introduction of its private label Fair Globe, which offers a range of Fairtrade-certified products, German retailer Lidl has launched a project in collaboration with TransFair.
For each Fair Globe product sold from 18 to 23 July, Bolivian coffee farmers receive an additional profit of €0.10. In addition, the Bolivian coffee project receives a euro for each Lidl Fairtrade ‘Vorrats-box’ - containing a selection of Fairtrade products - sold online.
"We are pleased that Lidl and its customers are making this project possible," said Dieter Overath, CEO of TransFair eV. “It will help 300 certified smallholders in various ways, from providing training in sustainable management to help in dealing with climate change. "
Lidl has nominated 2016 as ‘Fairtrade Year’, with the aim of making customers and employees more aware of the concept of Fair Trade. In March of this year, Lidl was honoured for its outstanding commitment to Fair Trade.
