German discounter Lidl has commenced the introduction of a new concept store format in Croatia.
Over HRK 100 million (€13 million) has been invested to roll out the new design across two new stores, located in Dubrava (Zagreb) and Zaprešić, taking the discounter's store count in the country to 88.
The first store has a total size of 6,637 m2 (1,350 m2 of sales area), while the second has store has 2,534 m2 (1,427 m2 of sales area). A third one will open next spring in Osijek, although it actually will be a refurbishment of an existing facility, for which about HRK 20 million (€2.6 million) will be invested.
According to Lidl, the two new stores have a bigger sales area compared to the rest of Lidl’s network, wider corridors, baby changing facilities and spacious parking lots.
The appearance of the store has been significantly changed with the introduction of more natural light, a transparent ceiling dome and front glass wall. The bakery has also been increased in size.
