Lidl has opened its biggest French store yet - a new 1,600-square-metre supermarket in Rousset. The supermarket, in the Bouches-du-Rhône region, has about twice the floor space of an average Lidl outlet, which, in general, would cover between 800 and 1,000 square metres.
As of yet, the company has not formally spoken of the strategy behind the move.
@lidlfrance announced the news by tweeting 'LIDL inaugure son plus grand magasin de France à #Rousset, avec plus de 1600m2! RDV jusqu'au 07/02 pour l'ouverture!'
Lidl currently operates around 1,500 stores in France – the highest number outside of Germany (circa 3,300).
