Lidl France has unveiled a new store concept, dubbed ‘Loft’, in Calais, which is positioned as a testing ground for new concepts.
The store, which is located on Avenue de Saint-Éxupéry, midway between Calais and Marck, offers wider aisles and more than 1,600 products.
It has also placed emphasis on energy saving concepts, with heat reduction and waste recycling measures in-store, and charging points for electric vehicles.
The store has announced that it will ‘test’ a new concept in the store every Sunday, in order to gauge consumer demand. It has hired a team of students to assist with the rollout of these pilot projects.
Lidl already operates two other stores in the French town of Calais.
