Lidl has added 100 new local suppliers to its network in Spain, increasing the total number by 20 per cent to 600.
The discount retailer has also increased the number of products available in store to 2,600, 18 per cent more than last year (2,200), according to elEconomista.es.
At least one-sixth of the total Spanish orchard production is sold to Lidl and distributed between its supermarkets in and outside of Spain.
Last year, Lidl made its biggest investment in its history in Spain. €262 million was allocated towards building and renovating its supermarkets in the country.
