Lidl Switzerland has announced that its chief operating officer Christian Steimle is to step down from his role, succeeded by Benny Klein as of 1 August 2023.
Klien (pictured right) was previously a member of the management at Lidl in Germany and has held various positions at Lidl for 21 years, the company said in a statement.
Christian Steimle (pictured left), who has held various management positions at Lidl for over 20 years, has been chief operating officer (COO) at Lidl Switzerland since 2019.
As of August 1, 2023, Steimle, who lives in the canton of Thurgau, will move to Lidl in Germany to a newly created position as a member of the management board (GL Regio Süd) and will be responsible for 20 regional companies there.

“With his many years of commitment to Lidl Switzerland, Christian Steimle has made a significant contribution to the success of our company," said Torsten Friedrich, Lidl Switzerland CEO.
"With him, a Lidl Switzerland veteran, an incredibly talented manager and a highly valued colleague is leaving us. I am very happy for Christian that he can take on a new challenge with my colleagues in Germany and I wish him every success. At the same time, I wish Benny Klein a good start and every success in his new position. I look forward to a successful cooperation."
Speaking of his new role, Klein said, "Christian is handing me over sales and logistics at a very high level. Thank you for the trust and I am extremely motivated to continue the successful development to date. I am very happy to get to know my new team and Switzerland."
