Lidl Switzerland To Stop Issuing Receipts In Environmental Move

The Swiss unit of discount retailer Lidl has decided to stop issuing receipts from 1 January 2017 to cut costs and citing ecological reasons.

The sales manager of Lidl in Switzerland, Alexander Wolf, told Italian daily La Repubblica that as a result of its decision, the retailer will eliminate approximately 96,000 till rolls from its stores.

He added that the receipts will be issued only upon special request from the customer.

Lidl has 109 supermarkets in Switzerland, where it has pursued a particularly aggressive pricing policy.
