Discounter Lidl and Croatian peer Tommy boasted the highest revenue growth last year among the top five retail chains in Croatia, a new study has found.
The two companies also rank among the top 10 'most successful companies in Croatia', according to research conducted by business weekly Lider, which examined the 1,000 biggest Croatian companies in 2017.
Regional retailer Tommy is the fifth largest retail chain in Croatia, registering one of the highest revenue growth rates (+14.3%) in the sector. It ranks 24th in the overall ranking of Croatian companies.
According to Lider’s data, Tommy generated HRK 2.7 billion (€365.7 million) last year, an increase of HRK 338 million (€45.7 million) compared to 2016.
Only Lidl achieved a higher growth rate last year, of 16%. Spar registered a growth rate of 45%, however this was skewed by the fact that it took over the Billa operation in the country last year.
Tommy operates more than 200 points of sale, located throughout Croatia, with particular concentration in four counties in Dalmatia, where it is based.
The Lider rankings do not include Agrokor, which operates the Konzum chain.
