A major shareholder at Germany's Metro Group, Franz Markus Haniel, has resigned from his position as chairman of the retailer's supervisory board.
According to Lebensmittel Zeitung, the current chief executive of Barry Callebut, Juergen Steinemann, is going to take over the position in September.
The announcement follows a reduction in the shareholding held by Haniel. In a statement, he said that he wanted an external and neutral representative to take over his position.
The three largest shareholders (Haniel, Michael and Rainer Schmidt-Ruthenbeck, and Otto Beisheim) announced that they supported the appointment of Steinemann to the role.
