German wholesale giant Metro has announced that André Rinnensland has replaced David Antunes as the CEO of Makro Portugal.

Rinnensland (pictured) has served as the CEO of Metro Serbia since 2018, and previously held various leadership positions within the Metro Group, including CEO of Metro Dolomiti S.p.A and Global Director of the House of Learning.

David Antunes, the outgoing CEO, had ambitious plans to double Makro Portugal's turnover to €1 billion by 2030. In 2023, the retailer achieved a turnover of €553 million, representing a 12% increase on the previous year.

Makro Portugal has been operating in Portugal since 1989 and currently has a network of 10 stores located in major economic and urban centres.

Meanwhile, Nadir Kadji has taken over from André Rinnensland as the CEO of Metro Serbia. He served as the director of operations and sales for Metro in France since 2021.
