Lithuanian retailer Maxima Grupė has announced that its head of Maxima Estonia, Vygintas Šapokas, is leaving the group.
Šapokas will take over as the head of Spain’s Supersol retail chain, effective 1 October 2018.
At the same time, the head of Supersol, Arūnas Zimnickas, will take charge of Maxima Grupė's retail operations in Poland.
'Strategic Expansion'
The move is a part of the company's plan to expand its business in the country, which is a "priority market" for the group.
“We want to apply Arūnas’s long retail trade experience in diverse markets to develop Maxima Grupė’s projects in Poland, which is one of our key focal points for strategic expansion," said Dalius Misiūnas, the chairman of the board and CEO of Maxima Grupė.
Šapokas was the head of Maxima retail chain in Estonia for more than three years. He had also held various portfolios for many Maxima Grupė companies since 2003.
Zimnickas is an industry veteran who led the Supersol chain since 2014. Previously, he was the head of Maxima in Lithuania and Latvia.
Maxima Grupė CEO Misiūnas and Marko Põder, a member of the company's management board, will take charge of Maxima Estonia until a new director is selected.
