Lithuanian retailer Maxima Grupė has appointed Edvinas Volkas as the chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Maxima Estonia, effective today (16 July).
Most recently, Volkas served as the head of Maxima Bulgaria and will replace Marko Põder.
Volkas joined Maxima Grupė in 2001 and has held several leadership positions in different companies of the group.
Positive Performance
Under his four-year leadership, Maxima Bulgaria posted a positive EBITDA for the first time in 2018. Its revenue grew by 19.4% to €132.8 million.
Peter Pavlov, the chief administrative officer of Maxima Bulgaria, has been named the company's new chief executive officer.
Pavlov began his career in Maxima Bulgaria in 2005.
'Market Leader'
The head of Maxima Grupė, Jolanta Bivainytė, commented, "We aim to remain the first choice for the customers in the Baltics, where the Maxima retail chain is the market leader, and to continue strengthening our position in the Bulgarian market.
"I’m confident that both the newly appointed managers will help to ensure this," she added.
