Spanish retailer Mercadona has announced that it is hiring 7,000 additional employees for the summer period of June to September this year.
This is 2,000 people more than the retailer hired in the summer period of 2016.

Mercadona says that the additional staff is necessary to cover employees who are going on holiday, and accommodate the increase in customers as tourists visit the country.
The retailer currently has a workforce of 79,000 across its 1,600 stores in Spain, after creating 4,000 new jobs last year.
The company was recently voted as the retail/distribution company with the best reputation in Spain.
