Spanish retailer Mercadona has opened a new store, at Calle San Telesforo in Madrid, following a €3.9 million investment.
The new store is the retailer's 156th in the Madrid area, and boasts a sales area of 1,608 square metres. It employs 43 people.
The store has been designed to be eco-efficient, with efficient lighting and heating systems that have helped reduce energy consumption by 20%.
Mercadona works with approximately 311 SMEs in the Madrid locality, and its investment in the community is valued at €1.4 billion a year.
