Mercadona has opened its first supermarket in Gipuzkoa, in Spain's Basque Country. A total of €2.9 million was invested in the new store, the company said.
The property boasts 1,500 square metres of space, with 330 parking spaces, and utilises an eco-efficient technology system that is aimed at reducing energy expenditure.
During the construction phase, Mercadona signed contracts with some 98 employees and supply agreements with 74 local providers.
Mercadona also plans to open stores in Eibar and Oiartzun in the coming year.
