German wholesaler Metro has announced that it has launched operations in Myanmar with a virtual store that will offer customers efficient digital ordering systems and delivery services.
The warehouse, located in Thilawa Special Economic Zone outside of Yangon, covers an area of 5,800 square metres.
Modern Logistics Facility
The modern logistics facility is equipped to receive, store, process and pack goods in compliance with stringent quality and food safety standards.
It offers an assortment of more than 2,000 high-quality food and non-food products.
Customers have the option of placing orders through Metro's website or mobile app, and the delivery is carried out with state-of-the-art temperature-controlled trucks.
Employment And Training
The new facility has provided employment to around 150 people, with 90% of the workforce sourced locally.
Metro Myanmar has also established dedicated food safety and hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) to train local fish and chicken suppliers in food production and handling.
It has also organised Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) training for about 200 fruit and vegetable farmer specialising in the production of onion, potato, garlic, and tomato.
