Metro Reduces Price Of Over 1,000 Products In Croatia

The Croatian unit of German retailer Metro has promised a minimum 12% discount on more than 1,000 products popular in the HoReCa sector to help its clients mitigate the effects of a new income tax that came into force on 1 January 2017.

Between January and March,  Metro Cash & Carry will change the selection of the products on promotion every two weeks. The reduced price will be available in all nine wholesale centres in Croatia.

According to Vladimir Gnjidić, executive commercial director of Metro Cash & Carry Croatia, the retailer decided on this step "to support the owners of hotels, restaurants and other catering and service companies that are the basis of tourism development in Croatia". He also invited all suppliers to join the initiative and provide support to caterers.

Last year, Metro invested HRK 80 million (€10.5 million) to accommodate the needs of business customers from the HoReCa sector. The newly-opened wholesale centre in Porec is focused on offering an assortment of goods and services required by hotels, restaurants, cafes, and fast food outlets.
