Swiss retailer Migros has announced it will open its new ‘Migros-Märt’ in Roospark Wollerau, Canton of Schwyz, on 8 March 2018.
The new store will offer a range of fresh products on a floor space of 1000 square metres, with serviced and self-service cash desks.
Additionally, the building will also include a 150 square metre Denner ‘Bibite’ discount store. This store will offer drinks, snacks, popular brands and special deals, according to Migros.
The Swiss retailer is also working on opening a VOI store in the retail park. It is planned to open in May 2018, and will offer Migros products as well as a news agents, a choice of wines and brands. VOI stores operate as independent franchises in partnership with Migros.
Both Denner and VOI offer alcoholic drinks, which Migros itself does not sell in its own stores.
Swiss Sustainability
The new park will include several sustainability features too. It will have photovoltaic solar panels an a charging station for electric cars.
For the building's construction, the wood used was exclusively sourced from Switzerland and has the certification ‘Herkunftszeichen Schweizer Holz’ (Swiss Wood Certificate).
The retail park will also offer spaces to let in its first and second floors at 900 square metres each, Migros said.
"During the construction phase, we received a lot of positive feedback from the surrounding neighbourhoods, with people saying they were very pleased about the new location,” said Agron Zahiri, who will manage the new store.
The Swiss retailer has recently invested in refrigerated lockers through the German start-up Emmasbox, following the lead of other retailers in the German-speaking region, such as Edeka in Germany and Unimarkt in Austria.
In April, Migros was named Switzerland’s most reputable company for the sixth time in the last ten years on the GfK Business Reflector 2017 list.
