Portuguese supermarket chains Minipreço and Pingo Doce unveiled new promotional campaigns at the beginning of February.
The Minipreço offer gives customers the chance to choose promotions offered in stores.
Customers are invited to visit the company’s official Facebook page and vote on one of two promotion options every week. The winning option will then be available in over 600 supermarkets for one month.
According to the director of communications and advertising of Dia Portugal Group, Ricardo Torres Assunção, the communication strategy for 2017 will continue to focus on a greater involvement of customers.
For its part, rival Pingo Doce has opted to put meals at the centre of its new advertising initiative.
Four different realities of Portuguese families are presented in as many videos, with the common message that it is important to gather around together the table for a family meal, consisting of Pingo Doce products.
