Monoprix is to record a landmark year in terms of supermarket openings, with 70 new outlets created over the course of 2015 so far, lsa-conso.fr reports.
The figure, which includes store-creation in all Monoprix’s formats – Monoprix, monop’, monop’daily, monop’beauty, monop’station, and Naturalia – takes its total number of outlets in France beyond the 600 mark.
Monoprix built 65 new stores in 2014, but in the years leading up to it, the average figure for new openings stood at between 15 and 20.
Stéphane Maquaire, president of Monoprix, commented, “Monoprix is undergoing an expansion process across all its shop formats. We are now present in 250 towns and cities in France, as opposed to 200 five years ago.”
The Groupe Casino division’s 2014 global turnover stood at €4.2 billion.
