UK retailer Morrisons has announced the appointment of Jeremy Townsend as a non-executive director to its board, effective immediately.
He will also be a member of the company’s audit, corporate compliance, and responsibility, nomination and remuneration committees.
Townsend will also take over as the chair of the company's audit committee from 10 September.
An Experienced Professional
Townsend is an experienced professional and serves as the finance chief of Rentokil Initial PLC. He is scheduled to retire from this position later this year.
He is also a non-executive director and chair of the audit and risk committee at PZ Cussons PLC and a non-executive director and chair of the audit committee at Galliford Try Holdings PLC.
Previously, he served as the group finance director of Mitchells & Butlers PLC and also held various senior finance positions at J Sainsbury PLC.
Townsend started his career at Ernst & Young LLP and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW).
He will replace Belinda Richards, who is set to take up the position of an independent non-executive director at Jupiter Fund Management PLC.
