UK grrocer Morrisons has appointed Procter & Gamble’s vice-president and managing director for Northern Europe, Irwin Lee, as a non-executive director, Retail Week reports.
At present, Lee presides over P&G’s trading in Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, and the UK. His role at Morrisons will come into effect on 1 September. In the past, Lee worked at P&G’s Ohio division, where the multinational is headquartered.
Andrew Higginson, Morrisons chairman, commented, “Irwin will bring his huge experience in the consumer goods industry, a deep understanding of the UK grocery market and an excellent track record of leadership at one of our largest suppliers. I am very pleased to welcome him to the board of Morrisons, where I am sure he will play an important role.”
Lee stated, “I am really looking forward to joining Morrisons and making a contribution to the turnaround of the company.”
