Less than a week after Morrisons CEO David Potts axed five board members in a management reshuffle, 20 additional senior members have been earmarked to leave the company, according to reports.
FoodManufacture.co.uk reports that Potts is continuing the clear out in hopes of countering the retailer's multimillion-pound losses.
A Morrisons spokeswoman said, "Following the announcement of a reshaped management board, we have had a number of redundancy conversations with senior managers at the next level in our organisation. These are aimed at creating a simpler, leaner Morrisons."
Julian Wild, head of the food team at Rollits Solicitors, claims that the actions of Potts, a former Tesco executive, indicate that he wants to replace Morrisons' current team with his own people.
"He is obviously intent on clearing out the business and wants to bring on his own people and run Morrisons along the lines of old Tesco," Wild told FoodManufacture.co.uk.
