British supermarket retailer Morrisons has announced it is launching a new web-based food education programme to educate children on where food comes from.
The new Academy of Food website offers lessons, activities and videos on farming, fishing and cookery for children and young people attending school.
"At Morrisons, we pride ourselves on delivering great products and services to our customers every day," said the company. "Our Academy-trained butchers and fishmongers know how to prepare meat and fish just the way our customers like. And in our bakeries, our Academy-trained bakers use their loaves to make fresh bread from scratch every day."
Writing on the website, the company said: "We think it’s vital to help today’s pupils learn essential cooking skills. The Academy of Food is a fresh new UK education programme that helps your pupils learn where good food comes from and how to prepare nutritious and delicious meals from scratch using fresh, seasonal ingredients."
It added, "Delivering your curriculum while building skills for life, we think it’s the perfect recipe for health and wellbeing."
