In light of the retailer’s ongoing slump, Morrisons CEO David Potts has said that he and the company will be highly receptive to the opinions of its customers, and the shopping public generally.
Potts, a former Tesco executive who joined the flagging UK grocer in March, was quoted as saying by thetelegraph.co.uk that the retailer “wouldn’t go far wrong” in the future if it attends to consumers’ needs and requirements. Included in this initiative is the decision to revise the chain’s policy on self-checkout stations.
He has also successfully headhunted Darren Blackhurst, who has worked in the past for Tesco and Asda, from the DIY company B&Q, to be the new Morrisons technical director.
In the retailer's Q1 statement, Potts added, “This is a business with many attributes, some unique. Our task is to use those advantages to improve the shopping trip for customers and create value.”
