British supermarket chain Morrisons are reviewing their recent ban of selling energy drinks to under 16-year-olds. They will decide next month whether to implement the ban nationally.
Twelve Morrison stores across the UK implemented the ban last month. The idea was promoted by concerned parents, teachers and politicians, according to the company. It also follows the British Soft Drinks Association's code of practice which recommends only a small consumption of caffeine for children, if any at all.
"A number of people who have seen what we are doing have praised us for this move," said Guy Mason, Morrisons' head of corporate affairs.
"We know that some of our younger customers are having difficulty proving they are 16, and we will have to take this in to account when we make our decision in the New Year on whether or not to roll this out."
