Morrisons Trials New Queueing System To Shorten Wait Time At Checkouts

The Sun reports that UK retailer Morrisons is trialing a new queueing system in its stores whereby only one customer will be waiting at checkouts at a time while one other is being served.

Speaking to the newspaper, a Morrisons spokesman said it was currently a "work in progress", and that the scheme was part of a nationwide bid to improve customer service throughout it's stores.

The paper also reports that a mystery shopper agency will monitor the new queueing system, along with store standards, availability and general customer service.

Each month, all individual stores will receive a score based on the findings of the agency, which will directly influence staff annual bonuses.

The Sun cites Morrison's annual report, saying, "There is still a lot to do, but customers are beginning to notice the difference. There has already been a reduction in queue lengths and a significant improvement in our customer satisfaction scores".
