French company Auchan Retail has announced that group chairman, Vianney Mulliez, will step down in March of this year.
The decision will draw to a close 11 years spent at the helm of the retailer, and allows for a ‘new chapter in the history of Auchan and its teams.’
He will be replaced by Régis Degelcke, an executive at French DIY retailer Adeo, who Auchan describes as ‘a major retail and international specialist [who] has been instrumental in the development and strong growth of Adeo since 1983.'
Degelcke was appointed deputy chairman in 2014, managing PRO business and ADEO’s corporate information systems.
Mulliez, who will retain his position as chairman of the board of Immochan led the brand’s international development, especially in Russia and China, and made it possible for the company to develop globally, Auchan said.
‘He supported Auchan’s successive management teams, including very recently the Management Committee set up around Wilhelm Hubner, and launched Auchan’s transformation, a transformation embodied by Vision 2025 and its promising initial results.’
