Musgrave Group has said that it is now moving to complete the sale of its Musgrave GB operations to Booker, following the approval of the deal by the UK Competition and Markets Authority.
In a statement on its website on 2 September, the CMA stated that it has “cleared the anticipated acquisition by Booker Group plc of Musgrave Retail Partners GB Limited.”
The CMA commenced its investigation into the deal back in July.
The deal, which will see Musgrave’s Budgens and Londis operations transfer to Booker, was announced in May, with Booker chief executive Charles Wilson saying at the time: "This transaction should strengthen Londis, Budgens, Premier, Family Shopper and other Booker retailers, through improving choice, prices and service to consumers. Overall it will help independent retailers prosper."
