Nestlé has announced that it will introduce the Nutri-Score nutrition labelling system on its Garden Gourmet product range in Germany.
The company said that it will gradually introduce the labelling on its entire range of products.
“In the coming months, we will be equipping all products with the Nutri-Score [labelling]. In total, there are 17 different vegetable dishes and ingredients that have been rated 'A' or 'B'," said Heike Miéville-Müller, who is responsible for Garden Gourmet's business activities in Germany.
Nutri-Score is a colour-coded system that classifies foods and beverages based on their nutritional profile. Products are given a score from A to E, which indicates its nutritional value.
Nutri-Score Rollout
In November 2019, Nestlé announced the launch of the Nutri-Score labelling system in Germany, Austria, Belgium, France and Switzerland.
In total, over 5,000 products will display the Nutri-Score label, including the brand’s breakfast products.
“More and more consumers want vegetable alternatives that are sustainable and at the same time taste really good," said Miéville-Müller.
“They want good ingredients, balanced nutritional values, and less pollution for the environment. That is exactly why we are increasingly relying on new plant-based foods.”
The first Nestlé products to bear the Nutri-Score label were introduced in German stores at the beginning of the year.
